[cyborg][kolla] OPAE & CentOS 8
Hi, I asked in another thread, but didn't get a response. In the kolla cyborg-agent image we install OPAE. There is a comment claiming this is a required dependency. It doesn't seem to be available for CentOS 8. If that is the case, we will need to drop support for the cyborg-agent image from Ussuri. Could someone confirm if OPAE is a hard dependency or not? Thanks, Mark
Hi Mark, According to the discussion in PTG, Cyborg community has an agreement that all driver dependency should be removed in kolla and devstack. Please refer to https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/cyborg-victoria-goals L261. Hi Xin-Ran, thank you for the info. We will then proceed with OPAE removal to unblock cyborg images on all supported platforms. -yoctozepto On 2020-06-15 05:15, Wang, Xin-ran wrote:

Thanks for your response. I can see that this should allow us to remove the dependency in Victoria. Will it be safe to do so in Ussuri and Train also?
Thanks, Xin-Ran

Yes, it can be removed safely in previous release. The BKM is let admin install all cyborg driver dependency by themselves, not only OPAE, but also other drivers if needed. In this way, we can avoid such incompatibility between driver version and OS version. We handed over the OPAE driver version and OS version to users. Cyborg will no longer maintain a supported version of the hardware. The removal patch is https://review.opendev.org/#/c/735526/2, after this patch merged in V release, that will be cherry-pick to Ussuri, it's safe. -----邮件原件----- 发件人: Wang, Xin-ran [mailto:xin-ran.wang@intel.com] 发送时间: 2020年6月15日 17:32 收件人: Mark Goddard <mark@stackhpc.com> 抄送: openstack-discuss <openstack-discuss@lists.openstack.org> 主题: [lists.openstack.org代发]RE: [cyborg][kolla] OPAE & CentOS 8 Yes, it can be removed safely in previous release.
