[tc][heat][tacker] Discusssion about heat-translater and tosca-parser maintenance
Hi,
I'm a tacker team member. I'd like to discuss how to maintain heat-translator[1] and tosca-parser[2] repositories.
These 2 repositories have not been updated so actively, but tacker often requires code updates for these repositories. Recently, patch merge progress of tacker and these repo do not sometimes match, which affects the development of tacker. For example, our some functional tests on zuul fail because these master codes are not updated.
Therefore, tacker members would like to take part more in these 2 developments. Tacker members have already started code reviews, patch posts, etc. If possible, we want some Tacker members to join the core team in the near future.
How about this?

@spzala and I have been maintaining, as best we can, tosca-parser and heat-translator for the past several years, though our day jobs have moved on to other things. This hasn't been a problem because of the extremely low activity in both projects, mostly updating for releases and handling a bug fix every once in a while. While there has been a flurry of new activity in the past week, we are unaware of any issues in these repos causing Tacker build failures or blocking any progress.
I know I would be more than happy to add to the core team with the goal of eventually handing off maintenance responsibilities, and I'm pretty sure Sahdev will agree.
I'll be back in the office next week, for about a week or so, then off the rest of the year. I'm glad to start discussions now and plan to start making changes in January, if that works.
Thanks,
Bob

+1. That is a good idea to have more maintainer from the different team which is done in much other repo too like horizon UI, devstack plugins repo. Both of these repos are under the Heat project and Rico (heat PTL) also can help with this.

Hi Bob, gmann, and Tacker team,
Thank you for the reply. OK, first of all, our Tacker team will continue activities such as reviews so that we can work as a core of heat-translater and tosca-parser. For our team, there is no problem with our development if we can maintain the master code of those repo.
How can we proceed with this? Should we give member names who will become core? Need to discuss with Heat, tc, etc.?
And I'd like to continue to discuss other points such as cooperation with other members(Heat, or is there any users of those?). We will continue to talk about it in the Tacker team, and suggest again if there is some necessary discussion.
Regards, Toshiaki

I don't think you need further discussion with tc as there still are ways for your patch to get reviewed, release package, or for you to join heat-translator-core team As we treat heat translator as a separated team, I'm definitely +1 on any decision from Bob. So not necessary to discuss with heat core team unless you find it difficult to achieve above tasks. I'm more than happy to provide help if needed.

Hi Bob and Sahdev,
Tacker team has started to discuss, and at least 5 members want to participate in the maintenance of heat-translator and tosca-parser.
In my understanding, heat-translator and tosca-parser are different projects and core team is different. We’d like to different members to participate each core team. Is it OK? Should I send the name list to you?
