[all[ Please Do Not Translate Etherpads ...
All, Not sure how else to address this, but we have had Cinder's etherpads repeatedly converted into Japanese recently. Want to make a public plea here to please be careful with translation tools and ensure that you aren't changing the etherpads in the process. Rebuilding the content to its previous state is tedious. Thank you! Jay (irc: jungleboyj)

For those that do want to translate, I suggest simply copying the content to a new etherpad with the same name but whatever locale suffix, e.g. https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/nova-ptg-queens-zh-CN.

The released version can be set to read-only. Once the version is released, the content on the etherpad should remain the same. If need to translate and view it, you can create another etherpad yourself, copy the original content once and edit it. I know that there are still a lot of translation tools available, google translation, youdao dictionary... etc. On Mon, 2019-08-26 at 17:51 +0100, Sean Mooney wrote: the process.

Thanks rerender it.

Yes, while I doubt pleas in here will reach the right audience, it can't hurt to try and maybe word of this problem will eventually get around. Also, we could remind folks that the "</>" button near the top-right corner allows you to get a read-only URL by clicking the "Read only" checkbox. Etherpad won't let you modify the content on those, and so they should be a much safer option for folks who do want to use whatever translation tool is currently replacing content in our read-write pads. -- Jeremy Stanley
As far as I heard, one of the common cases where this happens is to use the translation pop-up from Chrome browser. Many(?) users think translations are done locally as it works for static pages, but when it is applied to etherpad pages, the contents of the etherpad pages will be replaced. I remember that I was surprised with this behavior when I heard this first time... I am not sure what is the right solution, but I can share this information to local community. How did you even do it? The time slider won't allow me to go to yesterday..
Thank you!

I just slid the time slider back to before the change happened. I did catch it shortly after it happened (the team actually did thankfully). I have always been able to go back in time quite a ways though.
Thank you!

You should really take advantage of that ability Jay.
Good advice! If only I could also go forward!
I have the ability to travel forward in time, however it only operates at the speed of normal time. You! Young child... pray tell, what year is it? -- Jeremy Stanley
