So uh, I don't really want to be that guy, but I'm sure others have noticed the deal with the slides being different in the recordings from years past, in that you can't view them (hopefully people are uploading their slides). I'm mostly curious if there was a reason for that? Budget cuts? Technical issues? -- Thanks, Matt
In Berlin, in rooms where we had a full view of the screen, we didn't do a second screen for slides only. As mentioned, presenters can upload their slides to help with that. For places like the Marketplace demo theater where we had a smaller screen format, we added the view of both presenter and slide: https://www.openstack.org/videos/berlin-2018/how-to-avoid-vendor-lock-in-in-... We're looking at ways to improve both formats in Denver, so I'd say stand by. If there is a presentation that you feel is too difficult to follow, we can reach out to those presenters and encourage them again to upload their slides.

Here is a good example of what I'm talking about: https://youtu.be/J9K-x0yVZ4U?t=425 There is full view of the slides, but my eyes can't read most of that text. Compare that to YVR: https://youtu.be/U5V_2CUj-6A?t=576 And it's night and day. -- Thanks, Matt
Yeah, that makes sense. We had multiple complaints coming out of YVR that the size of the speaker was too small. So we're trying to work out a happy medium that can still work within our budget. Appreciate the feedback :)

Hmmm, if you can HEAR the speaker and SEE the slides (as in YVR), seems like that should be sufficient. There's usually a photo of the speaker on their bio page if you need more "presence". -dave On Mon, Dec 3, 2018 at 2:05 PM Jimmy McArthur <jimmy@openstack.org> wrote:

Hi Duc, Please send a link to your slide deck (or the deck itself) to speakersupport@openstack.org, and I'll be happy to get it up for you. Thank you, Jimmy
Duc Truong <mailto:duc.openstack@gmail.com> December 3, 2018 at 3:53 PM Quick question, how do we upload the slides for our presentation? David Medberry <mailto:openstack@medberry.net> December 3, 2018 at 3:18 PM and so sorry for the TOFU reply all. I'm beating myself up over it. And it's night and day. one factor in that may be that the videos are uploaded in 720p@50 rather then 1080p@60 as they had been in vancouver. so far i have been able to view most of videos ok. the room where the project updates were is proably the one with the worst lighting. the room were the lights at the front were dimmed are quite good.

Thanks for mentioning this. I've just sent the slides to speakersupport@, so hopefully they'll be linked soon to the session page. General feedback regarding slide upload: last summit, we received an email from speakersupport@ letting us know the self-service slide upload system was ready and we were able to upload slides ourselves through openstack.org. I thought that was a nice system, FWIW. This time, I was expecting a similar message process for uploading slides and didn't realize we could have added slides already by now. Cheers, -melanie
Thanks for the feedback, Melanie. We did send that email out this go round, but I think there were two tracks that were excluded that weren't meant to be. We're expanding the functionality so that you can upload from the CFP/Speaker Profile w/o having to be prompted by us, so stand by for more features :) Cheers, Jimmy
