Where can I find the nova feature requests which are yet to be developed ? I am thinking of contributing to adding new features.
Hi, You can check all approved nova specifications via the following link: https://specs.openstack.org/openstack/nova-specs/ With that, there are also a couple of specs which were proposed but not yet approved here: https://review.opendev.org/q/status:open+project:openstack/nova-specs Hope this helps. we dont really work that way. we do have a backlog directory for specs and we have started to file some whishlist bug with the RFE tag to have some small feature but generally we don thave contibutor that are looking for work most feature get propeosed/added by the people that want them or by folks working on a nova on behalf of a company. so it more a push model wehre peple will open trackers for the things they want to work on then folks pulling form a backlog of things upstream. with that said here are some of the current fre bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bugs?field.tag=rfe many bugs we triage as whishlist are often feature in disguse but not always. and just because we mark them as wishlist 4 years ago does not mean the sill make sense to do today so it better to cehck in with folk on irc or the maining list before working on a very old wishlist bug. the oter pace to look are the open specs https://review.opendev.org/q/project:openstack/nova-specs+status:open and this is our ounly backlog spec https://specs.openstack.org/openstack/nova-specs/specs/backlog/index.html the other thing you could look at are approved specs form a cycle or two ago that wre not completed https://specs.openstack.org/openstack/nova-specs/specs/2025.1/index.html sometimes they stall out because of review bandwidth other times the spec is approved but the person does not have time to work on the implementation. its often similar to get involved fixing bugs then starting a new feature form scratch.
