[vitrage][tc] Deprecation of the Vitrage project
Hi everyone, After evaluating the current state of the Vitrage project [1] and its alignment with the community's activity standards, the Technical Committee (TC) has decided to deprecate the project. This decision was based on several factors regarding the project's health and sustainability: - The project has been without a Project Team Lead (PTL) for an extended period, leaving it without a clear roadmap or technical direction. - The project has been marked as Inactive since the 2026.1 cycle [2], and according to the Inactive project criterias, the time of retirement has approached. - The project has been excluded from the 2026.1 release due to inactivity What this means for users: - With merge of the retirement proposal [3], the project will be marked as Deprecated. - There will be no new major releases or further project development - Security patches, or critical bug fixes may be provided by the OpenStack community for the Vitrage stable branches, until all stable releases are moved to unmaintained state. - All content for master branch will be removed and replaced with a placeholder Important note: under the umbrella of the Vitrage project, there are multiple xstatic libraries, including: - dagre - dagre-d3 - graphlib - lodash - moment These xstatic libraries above will be deprecated along with the Vitrage project. I have tried my best to check usage of libraries outside of Vitrage, and it seems that Venus dashboard is the only one depending on some of these. If your project is depending on one of these libraries, please reach out to the Technical Committee as soon as possible. We would like to thank the past contributors who dedicated their time and effort to Vitrage over the years. Your work has been a valued part of the OpenStack ecosystem. For those interested in the historical code or documentation, the archives will remain available in the Git repository. In case there is any interest from the community to continue the maintenance or revive the project in the future, please reach out to the Technical Committee.
