[election] [tc] Notification of non-candidacy; how it impacts TC diversity
Hi all, The nomination period for TC members / PTLs is coming up soon. I wanted to inform the community that I do not intend on standing for election for another year on the TC. Now is a good time, especially if you work somewhere other than Red Hat, to consider serving as a TC member to ensure our leadership team contains representation for all perspectives of OpenStack use. I'm happy to speak with anyone privately who is interested in running about what it's like to be on the TC, and to share some strategies I exercised to ensure the value of my TC membership was being communicated to leadership at my job. Thanks, Jay Faulkner Technical Committee Member
Thank you for all of your hard work on the TC Jay! You have done so many good things for not just the project, but also the community :) -Kendall On Wed, Jul 31, 2024 at 12:15 PM Jay Faulkner <jay@gr-oss.io> wrote:

Jay, Thank you for not just what you have done on the TC, but all the little things that may not be as visible to everyone and I know you will continue to do! Amy On Wed, Jul 31, 2024 at 12:15 PM Jay Faulkner <jay@gr-oss.io> wrote:

Thank you very much for your service, Jay! I know you won't be far, but as you can see from the other responses, this is a good opportunity for the community to express their appreciation of the effort you put in directly/indirectly, visibly and otherwise! Thanks also for encouraging folks to run for the Technical Committee. Our community is diverse, and the TC must be reflective of it. I'd be interested to know if motivated individuals are held back by company leadership not understanding the need, or impact of the TC (or any other form of community governance). We've been very verbose in defining the role of the TC. However, maybe there's something still relegated to tribal knowledge and it's worth trying to formalize it.
