[Docs][I18n] Re: Deployment Guide translation of OSA
(Adding: openstack-discuss@lists.openstack.org and openstack-i18n@lists.openstack.org) Hi, Thank you for reaching out. I've noticed that the "deploy-guide" is not located in the /doc/source folder of the repository. This suggests that there may currently be no direct support from the OpenStack Docs team (now under the TC) or the I18n SIG for this documentation. To align with the Project Team Integration (PTI) structure, I recommend discussing with the core team members of the repository about reorganizing the documentation accordingly. For your reference, I am sharing some additional documents below like [2] - [4], which I hope will help clarify the process and requirements. If you have further questions or need support from the I18n SIG, please feel free to reach out via the openstack-i18n mailing list or the #openstack-i18n IRC channel. This ensures that your queries are visible to all community members and can be addressed more efficiently, rather than contacting me directly. Hello, Ian.
We are currently working on adding the OpenStack-Ansible deployment guide ( https://docs.openstack.org/project-deploy-guide/openstack-ansible/latest/) to translation server. However, we've encountered a challenge: we are not sure how to start a job to gather the documents and upload them to Zanata ( https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/openstack-ansible/+/947634).
Could you please guide us on what steps we should take to initiate this process?
Thank you very much.
Hey, So the deployment guide is quite a separate instance of documentation, which was never translated so far. Projects containing the deployment guide are additionally marked inside of OpenStack docs, for instance[1] As far as I am aware, a deployment guide cannot be really placed inside of the docs, as it has a different destination and thus a different promotion job than docs. You can see that URI [2] for the deployment guide is also slightly different then it for a regular project docs. So I do not really think that it's up to the team to re-organize the docs. They are structured according to the intention, it's more that deployment guides were never translated for any project as of today. Based on that from my perspective translation of deployment docs is just a blind spot that potentially needs some love/implementation in the future. I am not sure how and if it's worth covering right now, given migration from zanata to weblate, but I'd say it's one thing to cover once migration is done.
