Is direct upgrade from Yoga to Antelope supported?
Hi, We are in the process of upgrading our Yoga cloud to Antelope and I was wondering if, Antelope being a SLURP release, it was supported to do it in 1 step or if Antelope was the first release from which it will be possible to skip one release and to go directly to the next SLURP release (Caracal). I didn't find a clear answer in the documentation... Best regards, Michel
Hi Michael, We did a direct upgrade from yoga to antelope without issues. I’m not going to suggest it’s directly supported but we had no issues Get Outlook for iOS<https://aka.ms/o0ukef> ________________________________ From: Michel Jouvin <michel.jouvin@ijclab.in2p3.fr> Sent: Monday, March 18, 2024 6:24:48 PM To: Openstack-discuss <openstack-discuss@lists.openstack.org> Subject: Is direct upgrade from Yoga to Antelope supported? If you look for an official statement, then direct upgrade from Yoga to Antelople is not fully guaranteed. This is described in [1] which is linked from the release list page[2]. ``` Our letter-based release naming scheme is about to wrap back around to A, so the proposal is that the “new A” release be the first one where we enforce this scheme. Y->A should be a “dress rehearsal” where we have the jobs enabled to help smoke out any issues, but where hard guarantees are not yet made. ``` I've not tried this skip level upgrade by myself, but we have seen less updates in core schema in recent releases so it's very likely that the direct uprade works, as is shared by Karl. We have such direct upgrade in OpenStack-Ansible CI jobs, and it is passing all our tests. At the same time I fully agree that it's not officially supported by OpenStack, since it was more or less "practice" by teams to find out all quirks and potential issues in the process before doing real SLURP release. Thanks for these answers! We may decide to go the safe way as an OpenStack upgrade without an OS change is rather quick for us. Best regards, Michel Le 18/03/2024 à 10:19, Dmitriy Rabotyagov a écrit :

While it wasn't officially supported (because Yoga is not a SLURP release), we tested compute rolling-upgrades with Antelope services and Yoga computes and it worked. So, yeah, you can skip Zed. -Sylvain
