Dear Nova spec authors and reviewers- Since our PTG time is shorter than usual this cycle, and we usually run out of time before we finish our agenda anyway, I would like to try to get as much spec review work wrapped up as possible before Denver. To that end, I would like to propose at least one spec review day over the next couple of weeks. This will be a chance for authors and reviewers to interact in a more synchronous fashion and hopefully let us close on some of the more significant issues. Can we do this next Tuesday, April 9th; and if necessary (and seeming productive) the following Tuesday, April 16th? If folks are amenable, I'll follow up with some logistics by the end of this week. Thanks, efried .

I've been preoccupied with other stuff recently (including our company conference), but I'll do my best to get the SEV spec resubmission ready in time for this review day, whenever it happens.

FWIW, works for me. I have two irons in the fire: (1) Add "Secure Boot support for KVM & QEMU guests" spec https://review.openstack.org/#/c/506720/ (2) Add "CPU selection with hypervisor consideration" spec https://review.openstack.org/#/c/645814/ The first spec has had some detailed review in the past. I had to put it on hold for a while, as we needed some major work to be done (refer to the periodic updates I posted on the Gerrit change) in the lower layer components: OVMF, QEMU, and libvirt. That work is now is completed, with libvirt merging the "auto-selection of firmware binaries" in its latest release, 5.2.0. Nova should now be set to start designing the support for Secure Boot for KVM/QEMU guests. I have refreshed the spec, and am rewriting it to reflect the new reality. The second spec is also fairly uncontroversial (refer to the problem description and work items in the spec). It has had some intial reviews, and I'm addressing the feedback. PS: I've also briefly described both of the above in the PTG Etherpad. [...] -- /kashyap

Both dates work for me. Thanks -gmann

Nova- Having had positive responses on this thread and in today's nova meeting [1], we're going to move forward with this. I've started an etherpad [2] outlining the process, which boils down to: Authors: If you want - and are ready for - feedback on your spec, add it to the list. Reviewers: Review specs from the list. Authors & Reviewers: Be available/responsive on IRC and/or gerrit. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. See you Tuesday! -efried [1] http://eavesdrop.openstack.org/meetings/nova/2019/nova.2019-04-04-14.00.log.... [2] https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/nova-spec-review-day
Nova- Reminder: spec review day (number one) happens Tuesday, April 9th. For some of us, this is "tomorrow". For some, it's mere hours away. https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/nova-spec-review-day Thanks, efried .
Nova- I feel like this was a success. We didn't close on a lot of specs (okay, it was just one [1]), but we saw a lot of activity from authors getting their specs ready, a lot of reviews, and a lot of good discussion that moved the ball on many issues. So I'd like us to follow up with the second review day as suggested originally: next Tuesday, April 16th. I've moved the main content of the etherpad [2] into a "Log" section so we can start the "Specs" section afresh. This ensures reviewers aren't wasting time reexamining specs that haven't moved since last time. To that end: Authors: Please take the time to respond to comments and update your specs. Then (and only then) re-add them to the Specs section of the etherpad. Don't delete/alter the Log section, please. Thank you very much for yesterday. One good turn deserves another [3]. efried [1] https://review.openstack.org/638629 [2] https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/nova-spec-review-day [3] Or, "The reward for good work is more work." :)
