[openstack-ansible] Compute nodes with mixed system releases
Hello, I can ot find a real answer in the OpenStack-Ansible docs. Can I add Ubuntu 18.04 compute nodes to my actueal all Ubuntu 16.04 cluster ? Ubuntu 18.04 needs Rocky, so I will first migrate from Queens to Rocky. But then, do I need to stick to 16.04 and plan an overall upgrade after ? Of course, I understand that mixing Ubuntu release, will also mix kernel and qemu versions and can pose problems, for migrations for example.
Hi Gilles, You will run into a few interesting issues such as how we build our repo based on the OS that the controller runs which means that there will be no pre-built venvs for those systems. I'd strongly suggest sticking to 16.04 and upgrading it all at once, for the other issues that you mentioned as well. Thanks, Mohammed On Tue, Feb 26, 2019 at 5:58 PM Gilles Mocellin <gilles.mocellin@nuagelibre.org> wrote:

Ah ! I forget this repo conainer...

I'll do that for now, but I really wonder how to upgrade all at once when we have lots of servers. I wonder which server OS is the base for the OS venvs to build in the repo container. I'll check, but if someone already knows...
Thanks, Mohammed
Thank you Mohammed.
