Retiring x/devstack-plugin-bdd
Hello all, This is to announce that I plan on going through the process to retire the x/devstack-plugin-bdd repo. https://opendev.org/x/devstack-plugin-bdd/ This project was to allow using the Cinder block device driver in Devstack. Support for the block device driver was removed from Cinder many releases ago and there is no expectation that this devstack plugin could be used in any meaningful way. Sean

Hello all,

It is not under openstack governance so retire process not really applicable to this. I think this can be left as it is under 'x' namespace or remove the code and update README with "it's no longer available" . But leaving as it is also does not harm as there are lot of repo under 'x' namespace. -gmann

The process described at https://docs.openstack.org/infra/manual/drivers.html#retiring-a-project is still recommended, you can just ignore "Step 5: Remove Repository from the Governance Repository" in such cases. -- Jeremy Stanley

Even step1 is not required as requirement repo does not own x/* repos. It is left with cleaning up the infra job setup. -gmann

Not exactly true, there used to be quite a few non-OpenStack projects making use of openstack/requirements synchronization. Since we reworked OpenStack's requirements coordination to no longer propose requirements.txt changes to projects, that step is probably not really applicable to anyone any longer, not even OpenStack projects. It just hasn't been updated to reflect our current reality.
It is left with cleaning up the infra job setup.
And in my opinion, the more important parts, replacing the repository content with a README explaining that it's no longer being developed, and setting its Gerrit ACL to read-only so that new change proposals will be rejected instead of going into a black hole without the proposer ever realizing that nobody's going to look at it. -- Jeremy Stanley

There are - but they are used elsewhere. When we do cross-repo changes, those dead repos hurt. So, I applaud to the retirement of this repo, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger aj@suse.com Twitter: jaegerandi SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D 90409 Nürnberg (HRB 36809, AG Nürnberg) GF: Felix Imendörffer GPG fingerprint = EF18 1673 38C4 A372 86B1 E699 5294 24A3 FF91 2ACB

-gmann It is not under governance, but the retire process still applies to clean up old repos.
