I proposed backports for these both bug fixes [1][2]. Thanks to validate them to allow us to land them with the final Xena.
When those patches will be merged I'll propose a new bugfix release for Xena.

I believe we have seen that issue a couple of times already, causing a lot of headaches with missed metrics.
IHMO it would be a bugfix and not a new feature and thus a feature freeze would not really take place here.
