Hi Goutham, Thank you for reaching out and for your continued support of the Masakari project. Regarding the PTL role — I appreciate you considering me, and it is something I would like to take on someday. However, at this point, I don't feel I have sufficient depth of expertise across the project to confidently serve as PTL. Additionally, my current situation within my organization makes it difficult for me to commit to the role at this time. Unfortunately, I also don't have anyone else in mind to recommend. That said, I believe the Masakari community is still active and motivated. As I mentioned in my earlier email, team members have been gradually returning, and we had a productive discussion during our recent team meeting about keeping the project going. We are committed to continuing development, reviews, and bug fixes. I understand that there are other projects in a similar situation — active communities without a PTL candidate for this cycle. Would it be possible for Masakari to be treated in a similar manner for 2026.2? We would like to continue operating as an active project while we work toward identifying and developing future leadership. I would be happy to discuss this further on the #openstack-tc IRC channel if that would be helpful. If they have moved on from the project, we'll need to find new project leaders. It's good to know that the project's maintainers are growing. Since you are a core maintainer of the Masakari repositories, would you be able to step into the PTL role, or know someone else that might be interested? Please feel free to respond here, or chat with the TC on OFTC's #openstack-tc IRC channel. Thanks, Goutham Pacha Ravi (gouthamr) On Mon, Feb 16, 2026 at 3:06 PM Sei Sano <sei.sano@ntt.com> wrote:
Hi Sam Su,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to you regarding the Masakari PTL nomination for the upcoming cycle. As you may be aware, the nomination period closes on February 18 at 23:45 UTC, and as of now, no one has submitted their candidacy.
If no candidate comes forward by the deadline, Masakari will be marked as inactive, and it may be retired in the following cycle. We would very much like to avoid that outcome.
I wanted to reach out because team members have been gradually returning to the project, and there is renewed momentum around Masakari. In fact, this topic came up during yesterday's team meeting, and the team expressed a strong desire to keep the project going. You can find the meeting log here for reference: - https://meetings.opendev.org/meetings/masakari/2026/masakari.2026-02-16-07.0... - https://meetings.opendev.org/meetings/masakari/2026/masakari.2026-02-16-07.0...
Given your experience as the current PTL, we believe you are in the best position to continue leading the project. This time, rather than being assigned to the role, we would like to encourage you to run as a self-nominated candidate. Your voluntary candidacy would send a strong signal to the community that Masakari remains an active and healthy project.
Would you be willing to consider submitting your candidacy before the deadline? Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your time and your contributions to Masakari.
Best regards, Sei Sano
