Hi,
First of all sorry if I didn't look for it long enough but I have couple of
questions about user surver and I couldn't find answer for them anywhere.
1. I was looking at [1] for some Neutron related data and I found only one
questions about used backends in "Deployment Decisions". Problem is that this
graph is for me a bit unreadable due to many things on x-axis which overlaps
each other. Is there any place where I can find some "raw data" to check?
The Foundation can pull raw data for you as long as the information remains anonymized and share. Is the used backends question the only one you want data on? Or would you also like data o the percentage of users interested in, testing, and deploying Neutron? This data is also available in the analytics dashboard [1], but can often be hard to read as well.
That would be great to see such data anonymized data. Info about users who aretesting or interested in some features would be also great. That may give ussome hints about what to focus on during next cycles.
Ok - so we are planning to close the 2020 user survey on August 20, and I can circulate the raw, anonymized data at that time. If you would like it sooner (even though it won’t be a complete picture), let me know.
2. Another question about the same chart is: is there any way to maybe change
possible replies in the surver for next years? I'm asking about that becasue I
have a feeling that e.g. responses "Open vSwitch" and "ML2 - Open vSwitch" may
be confusing for users.
My understanding is that "Open vSwitch" means simply old "Open vSwitch" core
plugin instead of ML2 plugin but this old plugin was removed around "Libery"
cycle so I really don't think that still 37% of users are using it.
We try to keep most questions static from survey to survey for comparison reasoning. However, if you think that some responses are confusing and can propose alternative language, we can consider that and make those changes.
Ok, I understand. Is there any repo or other place when I can check all thosepossible answers?
There isn’t a repo for the User Survey, but if you want, you can go through the existing survey to see all of the active responses. If there are any changes for the 2021 version (that will go live on August 21), please let us know by the end of July.
3. Is there any way to propose new, more detailed questions about e.g Neutron?
For example what service plugins they are using.
We have let each PTL add 1-2 optional questions at the end of the survey for respondents who indicated they were working with a particular project. The current Neutron question is: Which of the following features in the Neutron project are you actively using, interested in using or looking forward to using in your OpenStack deployment?
That Neutron question is exactly what I want but again, where I can find answersfor that question from last survey?
From me :) The answers to the 2019 survey are attached. We keep the answers private since it includes so much identifiable information (contact name, organization name, and deployment details) that respondents have requested to remain private.
