Thank Andrei for bringing up newbee request, would like to contribute for this RFE as well . We are currently in the process of migrating from LXB to OVN, also working OVN bgp agent based model Thanks On Tue, Jun 3, 2025, 2:03 PM Dmitriy Rabotyagov <noonedeadpunk@gmail.com> wrote:
We are currently using ovn-bgp-agent agent in production, so also would be interested in a native implementation without all that massive overhead.
But a bit concerned about time that will be able to dedicate for this effort, as currently have close to none.
Also, with that I'd love to ask if ovn-bgp-agent is still considered as a maintained project? As there are really quite some patches some of them are vary valid bug fixes, without reviews for a while:

I know that capacity is very limited, but with OVN native implementation would be nice to keep current agent alive anyway, at least until implementation is released.

Side note, I’d really like to work with neutron teams to develop a more robust and neutral migration documentation for OVS->OVN.
Thanks, Karl.

You don't often get email from aradu@pictet.com. *Learn why this is important <https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification>*
If you accept newbees I am also interested. We are currently using BGP but with OVS but would be interested in switching to OVN later on.

Hi Frode,
I think that is a great idea. Let’s collect emails of people interested in this effort, then we can pick a good timeslot that fits most of the people.
Please reply to this email whoever will be interested in participating in these syncs Frode suggested.
Thank you everyone!
Kuba

Hello, Jakub,
Thank you for filing the RFE for Neutron support for OVN native support for route exchange, which includes BGP.
We appear to have a common goal of making use of this with OpenStack, and we have time set aside this cycle to work towards this goal.
Communication through IRC and e-mail often has limited bandwidth, and I wonder if you would be interested in participating in a A/V sync on some cadence to get us off the ground with the initial spec work. We have good experience with how the core OVN A/V sync is organized and we could do something similar for this.
WDYT?
