Currently we are using VMware in a production environment. As we want to move from VMware to Openstack to save license cost, we installed an Openstack cluster in the dev environment, 1.5 month back. It is working fine. We have done some start/stop node tests, VM migration tests. So it's some basic testing. Our VMs are running fine till now Now within a week we will be starting Openstack cluster deployment in a production environment. My problem is that in my team we don't have prior experience running the Openstack cluster. We are reading documents and following them. We are not aware of real production issues in Openstack and how to handle those issues. This is my biggest concern. Can I get some help from you/community about: 1. What are error scenarios in which my running VMs will be affected? This is my biggest fear 2. What are expected production environment issues in Openstack and how to handle those? 3. What are recommendations for production grade Openstack setup? 4. What are worst case scenarios? 5. Is it possible that due to some issue the entire cluster is unusable? 6. If some unknown issue occurs and takes a long time to identify/fix will my running VMs remain unaffected? 7. Is my cluster deployment correct and am I doing things in the right way?
