[kolla] skipping base if already exist

Hi, We’ve started to use kolla to build container images and trying to figure out if I’m doing it wrong it it’s just not how kolla works. What I’m trying to do it not rebuild the base and openstack-base images when we build an image for a project. Example. We build a horizon image and it builds and pushes up to our registry the following kolla/ubuntu-source-base <> kolla/ubuntu-source-openstack-base kolla/ubuntu-source-horizon Now I can rebuild this without having to again build the base images with —skip parents But now I want to build a barbican image and I can’t use skip-parents as the barbican image also requires barbican-base. Which means I need to go and rebuild the ubuntu base and Openstack base images again. Is there a way to essentially skip parents but only if they don’t exist in the registry already? Or make skip-parents only mean skip base and Openstack-base? Thanks in advance, Sam

Help with eventlet 0.26.1 and dnspython >= 2

Hi, As you may know, eventlet is incompatible with dnspython >= 2.0.0.0rc1. See [1] for the details. However, Debian unstable has 2.0.0. Would there be some good soul willing to help me fix this situation? I would need a patch to fix this, but I'm really not sure how to start. Cheers, Thomas Goirand (zigo)

[tc][docs] missing documentation

Hi, With this mail I want to raise multiple topics towards TC, related to Documentation (SIG): * This week I had the task in the Release Management Team to notify the Documentation (Technical Writing) SIG to apply their processes to create the new release series landing pages for docs.openstack.org. Currently the SIG is chaired by Stephen Finucane, but he won't be around in the next cycle so the Technical Writing SIG will remain without a chair and active members. * Another point that came up is that a lot of projects are missing documentation in Victoria and Wallaby releases as they don't even have a single patch merged on their stable/victoria or stable/wallaby branches, not even the auto-generated patches (showing the lack of stable maintainers of the given projects). TC Meetings: ============ * TC this week IRC meeting held on Sept 30th Thursday. * Most of the meeting discussions are summarized in the below sections (Completed or in-progress activities section). Feel free to provide early feedback if you have any. * Elod has raised more issues today[9], that a few projects stable change (even auto generated patch) are not merged and so does their stable branch doc site is not up. For now, we are fine to auto/single core approval of those auto-generated patches and proceed to make stable branch doc site up. Call for 'Technical Writing' SIG Chair/Maintainers ---------------------------------------------------------- * The technical writing SIG[10] provides documentation guidance, assistance, tooling, and style guides for OpenStack project teams. * As you might have read the email from Elod[9], Stephen who is current chair for this SIG is not planning to continue to chair. Please let us know if you are interested to help in this Doc TC tags analysis ------------------- * As discussed in the last PTG, TC is working on an analysis of the usefulness of the Tags framework[11] or what all tags can be cleaned up. * We are still waiting for the operator's response to the email on openstack-disscuss ML[12]. [release] Release countdown for week R-0, Oct 4 - Oct 8

Development Focus ----------------- We will be releasing the coordinated OpenStack Xena release next week, on October 6, 2021. Thanks to everyone involved in the Xena cycle! We are now in pre-release freeze, so no new deliverable will be created until final release, unless a release-critical regression is spotted. Otherwise, teams attending the virtual PTG should start to plan what they will be discussing there! General Information ------------------- On release day, the release team will produce final versions of deliverables following the cycle-with-rc release model, by re-tagging the commit used for the last RC. A patch doing just that will be proposed soon. PTLs and release liaisons should watch for that final release patch from the release team. While not required, we would appreciate having an ack from each team before we approve it on the 16th, so that their approval is included in the metadata that goes onto the signed tag.
