Open Stack

In previous meetings, we have touched on the future of the Women of
OpenStack as a group and it is time to take a serious look at our status
and where we want to be.

With feedback from Summits and meetings, the question was put to the
Foundation about the possibility of opening the Women of OpenStack lunches
to be more of a Diversity and Inclusion event as some members of the
community didn't feel welcome or didn't want to intrude. As a result, with
the enthusiastic support of both the Foundation and Intel, our sponsor in
Berlin, we will be changing the lunch to a Diversity and Inclusion event
instead of being a Women of OpenStack branded event, with a name yet to be
determined.

Over my time in the OpenStack Community, I have seen the Women of OpenStack
be a force of nature taking the bit and running with things the Diversity
and Inclusion WG had determined needed to be done. But I feel it is time
for us to join forces and merge the two groups as the D&I WG heading with a
new 'nickname' and combine our resources to make a single stronger group.

So I am inviting all members of the Women of OpenStack to attend the
meeting on Monday at 20:00 UTC in the #openstack-women channel and to send
their thoughts and opinions to this list as well. Based on discussions I
would like us to be able to make a decision at our next meeting on October
1st, so that I can get with the Foundation staff for any branding or
governance changes that may or may not be needed.

Once the merge is agreed upon, we will determine a new meeting time as both
groups meet at slightly different times on opposing Mondays.
