[User-committee] [scientific] OpenStack research papers

Stig,

I won’t be able to make the SWG meeting due to another meeting but I’ve uploaded a few papers to https://zenodo.org/communities/openstack-papers/?page=1&size=20 to give an impression. There’s a nice keyword and search facility which can help to find content.

There is a process for others to upload once they’re signed up (with github or a Zenodo account). I am fine to act as curator for the moment to review the submissions. If anyone feels like submitting a new open access compliant paper on OpenStack to https://zenodo.org/deposit/new?c=openstack-papers, we can check the process works.

I’m having a look with the Zenodo app developers regarding notifications (i.e. how do we tell people when something new is uploaded) and also papers in multiple communities (there is already quite a lot of OpenStack related content in Zenodo so it would be good to only have one entry). Happy to pass on further questions if there are any during the meeting.

Tim

    Hi Tim -

That sounds like a good idea and seems like a worthwhile activity for the Scientific Working Group. Most of the papers I’ve gathered over time are more about technologies (OVS, KVM, etc) than about OpenStack use cases. I don’t have much of a collection of “user story” papers - but I know some people to ask...

I wonder how we could gather contributions, where this archive might be stored, how it could be publicised and how to achieve all this with minimal toil for WG members. At the high end I wonder if openstack.org could provide some form of dynamic content management system, in the same manner as the way user stories are handled. I think there’s potential here to do something useful.

I’ve added an item for discussion at the next SWG meeting (next Wednesday).

    Best wishes,
    Stig
