Hi Carol,

I’m not familiar with the Large Deployment WG so it’s difficult for me to explain the difference!

Forming a working group is an idea that’s come about while attending the Barcelona Summit. I’ve met my counterparts at other public cloud providers and it seems they’ve been spending the last couple of years writing almost the same code that I’ve been writing (albeit in different languages).

That duplication of effort creating internal apps that allow the business to operate a public OpenStack cloud seems like the wrong approach and I feel that a gathering of developers who’ve worked on applications that sit outside of OpenStack would bear a lot of fruit regarding patches to various core projects.

The onboarding and quota management aspects come to mind because these are the features I’ve produced within our company because OpenStack doesn’t have those features as it stands. I’m sure there are other use cases specific for running a self-service public cloud that could result in good changes to those core projects.

I hope I’ve explained that reasonably - please let me know if I can clarify my thinking further.
