[User-committee] Board meeting 12th February

Ryan,

One extra thing, I think a slide with the initial scope would be useful to
show the board. Currently, the points to review document has the following:

define the long term bylaws for the user committee

define the categories of different users that the user committee will
represent

consolidate user needs and present them to the technical committee and
management board with proposed action plans

keep track of users and their usage of OpenStack for the purpose of
providing aggregate statistics to the foundation while maintaining
confidentiality/anonymity as required

work with the OpenStack community managers to further expand the worldwide
user group structures and keep them vibrant and informed

Do we need to be more explicit on where we could do with some help ?

- For the bylaws, I think we're going to need some foundation help
to get from the current ideas to something formal

- Supporting the CRM configuration for our needs

With only 15 minutes, it is tough to highlight the areas of debate such as

- What is a user (from end user with the tools/CLI through
ecosystem partner through to private cloud 'runner')

- What is a manageable size of committee ?

I've created a presentation in google drive and shared it with both of you.

Thanks, that would be great to get a start and then we review together.

Ryan,

Since the 12th is approaching, do you want to give a shot at the preso and
we can help/review ?

Thanks,

JC

Ryan/JC,

Jonathan has given his OK for one of you to present in person at the next
board meeting on 12th February.

My default would be to propose Ryan since he's in SF .. would this be OK ?

We need to work together to define the

- Current status

- Strategic priorities for 2013

- Next steps

Ryan/JC,

Thanks for the replies.

I'm checking back with the board to see if attendence for the user related
part of the session is OK.

I am not too far from SF, and could make it there in person of it's better.

Ryan/JC,

Although there was a scheduled agenda item on the foundation board for an
update on the user committee, other items had overrun and the item was
postponed to the February 12th meeting in San Francisco (Rackspace offices).

Are either of you in San Francisco on the 12th ? I will be connected
remotely but if the board would like a status update, I could see if
physical presence would be preferred by one of the committee.

Tim
