Hi Kyle,

Good suggestions and, I agree, the information currently in the deck is probably already outdated a bit. The information was collected before the PTL elections and certainly before the design summit.

It will be good for us to understand where the deltas occur as well since a lot of the longer term information was more vision oriented than actual blueprint/spec oriented.

The focus on the roadmap data to date has been on asking whether the information is valuable and whether the format is correct. I don't believe this version of the roadmap will be published on OpenStack.org since it was our first attempt and wasn't intended to be published beyond the presentation and etherpad.

We do have to figure out how to publish this information so that it is accessible by end-users/operators with making sure the developer community doesn't feel like the information misrepresents their plans. The response from the community showed a need for it.

Would it be okay to ask you to review/advise our plans on this front once we are ready to revisit the roadmap publication topic?

Thanks,
Shamail

Now I'm even more concerned this is being published somewhere where it will be referenced without being up to date. I can already tell you the Neutron information is quite stale. It's possible we're the most mismanaged project out there (or maybe not), but my money says the others are stale as well. If this information is going to be displayed publicly and referenced by many, I think it needs to be combed over a bit more. In addition, it would be good for someone on this list to email openstack-dev and indicate this as well. I didn't realize how widespread this 6 month old roadmap info was going to be shared, and I'm guessing I'm not the only one.

We haven’t created an update yet, but will as the dust settles from the design summit. We do have a process in development (also slides attached from the summit talks):

That was 6 months ago, which is a veritable lifetime in OpenStack. I'd hate for outdated information to be relayed through these types of channels. Along these lines, does the product group have a plan to keep the roadmap information updated and current?
