Subject: [Openstack] Tenant name from within an instance

> I'm currently looking for ways to be able to retrieve information on what tenant a given openstack instance lives in from within that instance it self.

> This information is not available from http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data and setting up a nova client to access the api is not the way I want to go.

I don't know a way using the meta-data server, but one way would be to get cloud-init to write a file when the instance is created.
