<div style="direction: ltr;font-family: Tahoma;color: #000000;font-size: 10pt;">Main development is done on Ubuntu but we are quite happily running on Scientific Linux (Redhat Based) since Folsom.<br>
The Redhat guys are now one of the main contributors to Openstack and with the RDO packages it is easy to setup.<br>

I would choose whatever OS you are comfortable with.<br>
Both options have pro's and con's.<br>
