Open Stack

Can you make sure that memcached is running on your machine? If not,
make sure you install and run it.

Also, I believe it is required that memcached be started first before
starting swift. You might have to do:

$ sudo service memcached stop
$ swift-init all stop
$ sudo service memcached start
$ swift-init all start
