Open Stack

Hi everyone,

The OpenStack "Technical Committee" (TC) is the evolution of the
"Project Policy Board" (PPB) under the new, Foundation-driven
governance. It is defined by the Foundation bylaws[1] and further
specified in the Technical Committee charter[2].

The main difference with the PPB is that there are no more appointed
members. The 8 recently-elected PTLs will get a reserved seat, and the
last 5 seats are directly elected. Two of those five were elected for
one year last Spring and will be carried over from the PPB to the TC.
That leaves us with 3 seats to elect this time around. Those will be
elected for a one-year term on the TC.

Being a representation of the technical contributors in the project, the
TC is elected by the Active Technical Contributors ("ATCs"), i.e. anyone
who committed a change to one of the official OpenStack projects[3]
(which the TC oversees) in the year before August 29, 23:59 PST. This
includes doc and infrastructure projects.

The Foundation bylaws also mandate that ATCs are individual members of
the Foundation. That means that *in order to vote* (or propose your
candidacy to the committee), you additionally have to *join the
Foundation* if you haven't done so yet. The email you specify there will
be the one used in the election process. The cut-off date for joining
the Foundation to be able to participate to this election is set to the
end of day (23:59 PST), Thursday September 13. You can do so at:

Then the timeline is as follows:

Starting September 14, ending September 19, 23:59 PST: declaration of
candidates. Remember that candidates must be an ATC (and a Foundation
individual member).

Starting September 21, ending September 27, 23:59 PST: Election
