I'm also now noticing that the registration is free, rather than the 
nominal fee we discussed.

Without a small financial commitment or a team commitment, the no-show 
rate will be really high. Hackathon TW might have some numbers, but in 
my experience it will be about 30-50% of people who register but do not 
show. That's going to make planning for things like catering and 
furniture very difficult.

We'll also need to re-arrange the schedule to allow for team formation. 
It was designed on the assumption that the majority of teams will arrive 
pre-formed.

A simpler solution might be to fix the registration :)
