Dear OpenStack TW community,

I would appreciate the collective thought and wisdom regarding the use of virtual machines versus containers for use during this year’s Hackathon.

We have a few technical constraints that maybe addressed through the use of containers.

1. As I understand one benefit of containers are that they are more efficient way to use limited compute resources. Since we may not have a large back-end OpenStack platform, would it be possible to develop applications in a container and then test on the backend?

2. Since containers are much smaller than VM and that we may have limited available bandwidth. Would we further benefit with the use of containers?

Are there any other pros/cons for either VMs or containers in the context of the hackathon?
