Is the track chairs tool up again? I can’t get into it … I feel left out of this conversation ☺

Following up on my own email here... They are indeed random, but 6 lucky (or unlucky) talks are stuck at the top for all users. Everything after those six is random. These talks were edited outside of the normal channels by speaker support. We're working on a fix for the bug.

They're not 100% random. We have like 1,000 different variations or something (I need to check on actual numbers) that we deliver. The reason for that is that setting a random order for every single user was becoming costly from a db perspective. The "logged out" order should be the same for anyone since it's tied to the user credentials.

However, I'm looking into this now b/c it's a pretty big coincidence that you are both seeing the same order.

Hi,

I just wanted to verify if the order is truly random since these sessions also showed up as the 5th and 6th sessions for me too when I was voting. I also noticed that when I use an incognito session without being signed in, I always see the same talk come up first (Running Cinder in Docker).

Thanks,
Shamail

Just wanted to highlight this talk:

Avoiding Datageddon - Ensuring availability with exponential data growth
is in two different tracks: Cloud Models & Economics and Big Data
Do we have a way of identifying identical talks that have been submitted to multiple tracks?
Do we care?

I'm of two minds about this, but the dupe popped up as serieally displayed as the 5th and 6th talks when I went to the vote page.
