Hi Aminah!

How are things? Do you mind introducing yourself to the group?

Including Aminah Nailor as she has expressed interest in helping in this effort as well as the OpenStack Personas mailing list so that others are aware of this effort and can chime in if they wish to contribute.

Thanks,

Hiya,

My manager still needs to review (scrub) the HP cloud roles document. However, I did want to point yo at some additional resources:

Personas developed by the UX working group (in progress, draft):
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Personas
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/PersonaPotentialRoles

One of the approaches was to organize the personas as ecosystems that shape user roles and goals. This was driven by one of the findings that attitudes about OpenStack vary significantly based on the type of business.
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/OpenStack_Personas

Data collected from the persona interviews about a year ago:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CslXeXMUDNv1DsBEVSZWJbGmPnejJW-PzkIWege5-ZA/edit?usp=sharing

A couple of other things. We could potentially decide that there is enough data and its just a matter of refining and creating a presentation around the personas. If that’s the case, we could consider pivoting and using the time in Austin as a strategy session for community UX work.

Cheers,

Piet

Hi everyone,

Thanks for letting me participate in this working session. Piet and I met at the operators summit (during the product WG session) and connected on this topic since the Product WG is writing user stories to discuss features/functionality. As a part of the user story, we have to specify actors/personas and, currently, we have not defined any standardized personas. I look forward to working with this team and being able to share the work done here with the Product WG team.

I will most likely have to attend remotely but I will try my best to be there in person if possible.

Here is a sample user story currently in our repository:

Hi all,

Thanks for including me in the conversation. I won't be able to travel this year so I won't be able to attend this in person unfortunately. I know that F2F is much preferred for these types of activities, so I look forward to hearing how it goes and hope to be able to learn from the work you all do and apply it while designing!

Best,
Liz

Hi Stan et al:

I agree F2F is preferable; however, with the upcoming OpenStack Summit in Tokyo, I'm trying to reduce traveling that month (as it puts a lot of burden on my family).

That being said, I'd be happy to participate and collaborate remotely. Additionally, we might be able to get more participation if we provide remote collaboration capabilities -- if we're interested in additional folks joining in this effort.

Thanks,
Ju

Hi Ju,

Face to face collaboration would be ideal as we have collaborative spaces designed for design collaborations.

But we can also use tools to facilitate remote collaboration, like Mura.ly for post-it sessions, Ziggy Cameras to project sketches over video streams, etc.

Hi Piet:

I'm indifferent about the dates other than it should be way before the Tokyo Summit. I'm not sure about the travel but can definitely do it remotely via video conferencing like last time. Any thoughts about remote participation?

Thoughts?

It's actually 5th and 6th of October instead of 2nd and 3rd.

A couple options are:

1. Keep the workshop to be 2 days, and stay late during these two days.

2. We can schedule the workshop from 4th to 6th, so that we have three days, but this would require people to come on Sunday.

3. We can use the collaborative space on 5th and 6th, and use a different space on 7th, but this would require we move all artifacts generated in the workshop late on 6th.

Hi Piet,

Thanks for reaching out, I was just about to email you on this.

I've been trying to secure rooms for the persona workshop, and initially I try to book the collaborative spaces with movable whiteboards that we have in the design studio. However, due to limited availability and vast demand, the earliest days these spaces would be available are: 2nd and 3rd October and 12 to 14 October.

Would these two times work?

I'm still looking for rooms at other buildings that might be available earlier, but I think these design spaces are ideal for a persona workshop.
