Hey operators and other users (and devs),

We've got a number of logging sessions scheduled for the Summit.

I'm collecting up information on the summit logging etherpad: https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/TYO-ops-logging
and it will get fleshed out a lot more during the flight;-)

Two goals of the sessions: Get Error Codes spec into a condition the devs will accept it
Define the Logging in OpenStack document and get commitments from Ops folks to write the various sections.

I also want to discuss

* the recent acceptance of the request-ID spec and how we might want to influence the implementation for logging purposes

o http://specs.openstack.org/openstack/openstack-specs/specs/return-request-id.html

* A network security and FW logging spec

o https://review.openstack.org/#/c/203509/25 that also has a session in the design summit

* App agnostic logging parameters -- suggestions/advice/details for devs to consider for this.

o http://specs.openstack.org/openstack/oslo-specs/specs/kilo/app-agnostic-logging-parameters.html

* Info level standardization -- what is good, what is bad, let's file bugs?

* Notifications - rules on what should be logged and what shouldn't

So, there is much too much to cover during the sessions, but we can pick the ones (or others) that are important to the attendees. Please add what you think is important to the etherpad and come to the sessions.

Here are the sessions related to logging:

http://sched.co/49xh
http://sched.co/49yK
http://sched.co/4Fjf
These two are at the same time. They should have the same people in at least part of them. Maybe we should ask Oslo to join us after they address rootwrap and security....
