on quick look, it seems that your proxy past config is a bit off.
would be useful to include your proxy config file, as well as version info
(cactus / diablo, milestone.. etc)

As a side note - rather than try to install from scratch manually, look for
the some of existing deployment scripts out there. There are some using
Chef, some puppet and some more comprehensive.
