[Openstack-operators] Xen with Openstack

I’m pretty sure a lot of people did.

I did with XCP 1.1 and XenServer 6.0, both work fine.

I didn’t have any experience with Xen so I had to learn from scratch but it’s a very nice system, very powerful.

The only thing missing for me is that there is no cache so every time you spawn an instance, the image will move from glance to the compute node, no matter if it’s the 100th time you spawn that image on that compute node (if anyone managed to get a cache, please tell me).

But as far as I observed, it’s as stable as KVM, very promising really, I’m waiting for XCP 1.5 (January if we’re lucky) because I need GPU passthrough.

I’m pretty sure you know about this page: http://wiki.openstack.org/XenServerDevelopment

I followed it, got a bit of a problem with image format but at the end everything works, I still have a zone that’s using Xen (a mix of XenServer 6 and XCP 1.1) as an hypervisor right now.. let me know if you get stuck, I’ll try and help you with my notes
