Sorry I didn't read your issue carefully.

I suspect using ' _*track-upstream*_' option along with a upstream repo 
in projects.yaml would possibly help you sync from upstream and you can 
disable it later but I am not sure.  Even if it works, it still needs a 
couple of patches to update projects.yaml.

I suggest you go to IRC for a solution.
