<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">I’m actually carefully studying Neutron doc, especially installation procedures, In my opinion the NEUTRON documentation could and SHOULD be improved, in the following my main concern:<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText"><b><span lang="EN-US">In</span></b><b><span lang="EN-US"> the “Openstack Networking administration guide”</span></b><span lang="EN-US"> (</span><a href="http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-network/admin/content/index.html"><span lang="EN-US">http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-network/admin/content/index.html</span></a><span lang="EN-US">)
 We can notice:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><span lang="EN-US">1) there is no trace on a comprehensive guide that lead you step by step to a whole openstack with advanced network features installation: the guide just focus on Quantum/neutron server and related components and plugins
 installations, without describing how to install the whole stuff (all the other openstack modules)<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><span lang="EN-US">2) The suggested mapping between services (software modules) and physical servers is only represented in this map:
</span><a href="http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-network/admin/content/connectivity.html"><span lang="EN-US">http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-network/admin/content/connectivity.html</span></a><span lang="EN-US">, but is not explicitly listed
 and explained in the guide, moreover this mapping sounds to me quite weird: we can notice all the services overloading the cloud controller while the network controller has almost only the network plugin installed!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><span lang="EN-US">3) look at warning and note written in
</span><a href="http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-network/admin/content/nova_with_neutron.html"><span lang="EN-US">http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-network/admin/content/nova_with_neutron.html</span></a><span lang="EN-US">: basically there
 is written that the service nova-network is not at all compatible with the quantum/neutron server, BUT in the official openstack installation guide (</span><a href="http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/install/apt/content/installing-the-cloud-controller.html"><span lang="EN-US">http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/install/apt/content/installing-the-cloud-controller.html</span></a><span lang="EN-US">)
 it is recomended to install nova-network service either in the controller or in the compute node(s)!<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText"><span lang="EN-US">…so this means that, if I follow the official guides I have first to get an openstack instance up and working, then I have to uninstall one of its essential parts, that is obviously absolutely mandatory to make it
 works, then install the network modules!<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText"><span lang="EN-US">Honestly: the first time I tried I had weird behaviors…</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:Wingdings">J</span><span lang="EN-US">..<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">BTW: Right now I  asked for help in openstack ” general “ mail list, and I have been answered back with some interesting guide (thread “[Openstack] Neutron Installation: support request”) and I first  could notice that
 there is a completely different installation sequence: the Neutron/quantum server is installed BEFORE all the nova components!<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">Hope this post can be helpful, personally I would suggest to write a kind of “official” example to get a working instance of Openstack + Neutron + whished Plugin….and in not so much time I count to be able to actively
