Just wanted to chime in and say I don't have good experiences from other
open source documentation projects with maintaining technical content in
wikis. The maintenance of such content can be a real pain unless you
put extra effort into making sure that there are wiki gardening processes
in place and a team of core contributors being responsible for them.
I do agree, which is why we have always moved content out previously to the current format. However, the idea of this is that the documentation team does *not* maintain this at all, but rather, the Operators do. This is why the decision has been left up to that particular side of the community.
The responsibility for the Operations Guide would then solely rest in the operators themselves. It wouldn’t be in any official capacity.
I'd vote for option one to see what's the real interest in keeping that
content updated for future releases.
Cheers,
pk
