That's a non-starter for me, these are instructions and must go in order.

I think Brian's workaround is the best option, though I absolutely love
your "we are writing the year 2015" comment, Christian. So true.

Simple markup means some tradeoffs. We knew this going into RST/Sphinx.
Anyone know if the docutils maintainers could be convinced that it's
actually <ol> that's the chunk we care about here?
