I think the most unambiguous word would be "dev". Or devel or development.

Maybe another word could be "pre" or "prerelease". It doesn't sound as
scary as "dev" and maybe more curious users would look at it to see what's
ahead in the upcoming version.



+1 for devel, that would be my preference.
