+1 fwiw.

This was an attempt to funnel new/inexperienced contributors toward
getting appropriate help from old/experienced contributors, so they
didn't get ignored and discouraged. It would still be nice to figure out
a way to make that happen -- ideally old hands actively taking
initiative to mentor new folks -- but yeah, this wasn't it. So scrap it.
