<br>
There's been some discussion on IRC about this, but I wanted to formally<br>
request a FFE for the remaining composable upgrades work and provide a<br>
status update:<br>
<br>
<a href="https://blueprints.launchpad.net/tripleo/+spec/overcloud-upgrades-per-service" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://blueprints.launchpad.<wbr>net/tripleo/+spec/overcloud-<wbr>upgrades-per-service</a><br>
<br>
We've made pretty good progress on this, and the ansible based upgrade<br>
architecture, along with tasks for most overcloud services has landed.<br>
<br>
However we've been blocked for a while due to the complexity of upgrading<br>
nova - some work was required to get puppet support for cellsv2, and to<br>
figure out the required steps related to the placement API integration.<br>
<br>
I think that's all close now, and folks have been testing locally with some<br>
success:<br>
<br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/405241/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/405241/</a><br>
<br>
The other missing piece is pacemaker support, which again has been locally<br>
tested but not yet proven via CI:<br>
<br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/403397/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/403397/</a><br>
<br>
The final part is deploying the upgrade script for operator driven upgrades<br>
when automated upgrades are disabled (this is similar to previous releases,<br>
but required some rework due to the new architecture):<br>
<br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/424905/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/424905/</a><br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/419886/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/419886/</a><br>
<br>
There are also a few other various fixes and cleanups outstanding:<br>
<br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/428309" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/428309</a><br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/428310/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/428310/</a><br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/428348/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/428348/</a><br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/428349/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/428349/</a><br>
<a href="https://review.openstack.org/#/c/424715/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://review.openstack.org/#<wbr>/c/424715/</a><br>
<br>
I think that's all of the outstanding work, but we're still testing and<br>
trying to flush out any remaining issues - if I've missed anything<br>
hopefully other folks on the upgrades squad can follow up with more<br>
details.<br>
<br>
Overall I think this is OK for the final release, but we should aim to land<br>
the patches above ASAP so we can focus on testing and any remaining<br>
bugfixes.<br>
<br>
Thanks!<br></blockquote></div></div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Of course this is granted, as upgrades are essential to us.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Thanks for this outstanding work.</div><div dir="auto">Emilien.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div class="gmail_extra" dir="auto"><div class="gmail_quote"><blockquote class="quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">
