The general answer is: yes! it is possible for all services except Ceilometer yet.<br>
<br>
RPC use case is 100% covered, but Ceilometer uses Notifications which are partly supported<br>
in zmq backend because they need some persistence when consumer is not present etc.<br>
<br>
For all the other services (Nova, neutron, glance, cinder) you can run zmq RPC backend.<br>
<br>
For Ceilometer and Notifications there is a possibility to run another backend driver<br>
(some people are looking at kafka for example).<br>
<br>
To try zmq as RPC backend it is easier to start with devstack, for this please follow instructions in the guide [1].<br>
