<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style=""><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">Greetings,</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">After contributing consistently to Mistral since the Kilo dev cycle, I'd</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">like to run for the Mistral PTL position for the Mikata release cycle.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">In case you don't immediately recognize me, I'm 'xylan_kong' on IRC,</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">where you can always find me.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">Although I know that I have served as Mistral core reviewer for only</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">less than 1 year, I make myself almost full-time dedicated to Mistral</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">upstream work, to make it more feature-riched, more stable, more</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">scalable, and align with the whole community rules, etc. I've also</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">helped many new developers contribute to Mistral project, and have tried</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">to always be available on IRC and mailing list, in the position to help.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">Of course, I'd like to thanks to all the fantastic folks of Mistral core</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">team, although it's a really small team, but I've been honored to serve</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">under Renat, Nokolay, Winson and many others for this year, thanks all</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">to your mentoring, and now I feel I could try to serve as PTL, I am</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">fortunate enough to work for an employer that would allow me to focus</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">100% of my time on the role of PTL.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">Some of my thoughts about Mistral for the Mikata cycle are as follows:</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">* Improving the growth and vitality of Mistral project</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">People of Mistral team may know that there are not a lot of contributors</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">interested in Mistral, it’s important that as PTL, spent time on</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">non-technical duties besides technical effort, such as actively seek out</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">the input and feedback from users, operators and deployers, as well as</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">mentoring others to become future core contributor and even project team</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">leads, and acting as a point of contact for other OpenStack projects.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">* Continuing to improve Mistral UI and Mistral documentation</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">Thanks to all the talent guys for their tremendous efforts for UI and</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">doc (you know who what I mean :-)), we have already make a big progress</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">for Mistral UI work and doc reference. However, We still need to put</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">more efforts on that, since UI is so important to Mistral usage, no</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">matter for end users usage or for PoC scenarios.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">* Participating in cross-project initiatives and discussion in OpenStack</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">Actions involved in like: collaborating with the API working group,</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">cross-project specs, QA team, release team, etc. We should be reviewing</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">specs from these teams and making sure we implement those initiatives in</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">a timely fashion. For example: designing our new API version according</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">to API guideline, keeping with pace with other projects before the</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">release schedule deadline, integrating with OpenStack client, showing we</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">are part of community as a whole like many other official projects, etc.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">* Introducing spec repository for Mistral (or something else we think it</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">better for tracking design details)</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">As I mentioned before, Mistral is a small project compared to many other</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">projects, but that doesn't mean we could do anything 'freely'. A good</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">thing recently is, we started to use etherpad to bring new features for</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">discussion before people decide to implement. However, etherpad is so</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">fragile that we may lose the 'history' of feature evolvement process,</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">I'd like to propose we use a specific git repository (*-specs) or</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">something like that to propose, discuss, iterate and track approvals on</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">specifications using Gerrit instead of Launchpad, like other projects,</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">which is very useful for new comers to learn how Mistral evolves, where</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">we are, and where we're going.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">* Last but not least, bringing more and more useful features to Mistral,</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">increasing Mistral stability at the same time.</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace"><br></font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">There are other things I'd like to accomplish as well, but those are the</font></div><div class="gmail_default" style=""><font face="monospace, monospace">main pieces in my mind when I decide to run for PTL.
