<div dir="ltr"><div><div>Hi All,<br><br></div>I am using the <span style class="">openstack</span> <span style class="">folsom</span> release. I
am trying to validate some failure cases in <span style class="">openstack</span>. As part of that,
I launched 4 <span style class="">VMs</span> in a compute node. After that, I rebooted the compute
node. After rebooting nova compute service is running properly. Also,
the <span style class="">openvswitch</span> is running properly(we are using <span style class="">openvswitch</span> instead of
<span style class="">linux</span> bridge).<br>
<br>But, I observed <span style class="">VMs</span> were not able to ping each other. I observed
only for one of the <span style class="">VMs</span> the tap interface got created. For, the rest of
the <span style class="">VMs</span> tap interface was not created. Even after rebooting the <span style class="">VMs</span>, the
same behaviour is observed. At this moment, I launched another
instance. When I did that, I observed the tap interfaces for all the <span style class="">VMs</span>
including previously launched <span style class="">VMs</span>. Now, I am able to ping another <span style class="">VMs</span>.<br>
<br></div>Please explain me the <span style class="">behavior</span> of Nova compute in this case
and Nova compute restart in general. Any help in understanding this
<span style class="">behavior</span> is highly appreciated.<br clear="all"><br>-- <br>With Best Regards,<br><span style class="">Girish</span><br>
