Hi,

I'd like to announce Kayobe[1], a project that we at StackHPC have been
working on recently as we help to build out a performance prototyping
platform for the SKA telescope[2].

Kayobe is an open source tool for automating deployment of Scientific
OpenStack onto a set of bare metal servers. Kayobe is composed of Ansible
playbooks, a python module, and makes heavy use of the OpenStack kolla
project. Kayobe aims to complement the kolla-ansible project, providing an
opinionated yet highly configurable OpenStack deployment and automation of
many operational procedures. Further information is available in the
project's documentation[3].

In our recent blog post[4] we discuss some of the Zero Touch Provisioning
(ZTP) capabilities of the project that allowed us to quickly commission the
hardware for the SKA performance prototype platform. To achieve this,
Kayobe leverages ironic inspector's introspection rules and node discovery,
and Ansible's networking modules. We think these techniques may be
applicable to other deployment tools such as TripleO and would be
interested to share experiences and code with those communities.

We'd love to hear feedback from the OpenStack community on the direction
this project is taking, and of course encourage interested parties to get
involved!

Thanks,
Mark (mgoddard)
