Brandon,

It is really up to the individual projects to enable remote participation. The foundation greenlit Kolla’s Monday and Tuesday design sessions enabling remote participation if the Kolla project did the legwork on providing the remote participation mechanism.

- This is great to know for future PTG's. I'm glad you sent this information out, and I will forward to any members on our team who are interested in attending the Kolla PTG sessions.

In the past the foundation has been wary of enabling remote participation. I’m not sure why, however, your email brings up a good argument that remote participation makes it more difficult for the foundation to manage the events and puts extra strain on the already strained PTLs to self-organize such participation.

Hope that information helps.

- Very helpful; thank you! I think that it's great to enable remote participation. I'm just not sure where the line gets drawn now for those who receive financial assistance vs. those who can participate via web conferences. I'm not going any deeper than saying that it leaves some room improvement/clarification. (Oh, and that I personally like Zoom or even https://appear.in/).

- For our part, I know that some of our team members who will be really excited that there is now an opportunity to participate with at least one project at the PTG. Thanks, Steve.

Regards

-steve

This is a great idea Steve! I didn't realize that this option was available. Could all the sessions do this? We have some folks that aren't able to come due to budget constraints, but this would allow them to participate at the PTG sessions.

Hey folks,

To take some load off Michal I’ve setup remote participation for day #1 of the PTG.

Michal had suggested he might setup zoom instead of webex, however, I haven’t seen that happen and several people have asked on IRC how remote participation will work at the PTG. If Michal sets up remote participation in some othe rway, ignore this email (and he will follow up with a zoom.us calendar invite).

Note I feel like google hangouts is difficult to manage and is a non-starter because google Is not available to our worldwide participants.
