This is the final release week. We're almost there!
Most project teams should be preparing for the summit in Barcelona.
The release management team will tag the final Newton release on 6
October (project teams do not need to take any action). We will
re-tag the commit used for the most recent release candidate listed
in openstack/releases, using a final version number that drops the
"rc" segment. Projects not following the milestone model will not
be re-tagged. Cycle-trailing projects will be skipped until the trailing
Backports should be restricted to last-minute critical fixes to
avoid having to publish more release candidates than necessary.
Projects not following the milestone-based release model who want
stable/newton branches created should talk to the release team about
their needs. Remember, we always create stable branches from tagged
commits, so we need the tag to exist before we branch. We will NOT
be creating branches without communicating with the PTL or release
liaison for the team.
Unbranched projects include:
PTLs, this is a good time to clean up core team memberships and
remove inactive members.
