The OpenStack UX project and Product working group is conducting a persona working session in IBM's design center in Austin from October 5th - 7th. The goal of the workshop is to develop several personas that can be used by the community for creating user stories, planning, etc. The reason your should care is that it allows the PTLs to have more focused conversations around who will be using a specific feature.
A description of personas can be found at http://www.usability.gov/how-to-and-tools/methods/personas.html
In preparation for the workshop, we are asking the project PTLs to identify several roles that the workshop attendees should spend time building into personas. In this context, a role simply includes a name and description while a persona includes richer data such as motivations, pain points, education as well as a description of their relationship to the other personas.
This should take about five minutes to complete.
BTW – you are totally welcome to attend the working session if you happen to be in Austin. Even if you just want to stop by at lunch for some BBQ. It would be cool to meet you in person.
