[openstack-dev] Basic configuration with VMs with a local private network

I reckon the admin guide [1] contains sufficiently up-to-date information
for the grizzly release.
Please let me know if you find it lacks important information. We'll be
more than happy to make the necessary amendments.

Your scenario appears to be fairly simple. On the compute node you will
need nova-compute and the openvswitch plugin's L2 agent.
Quantum server, and all the other Openstack services, should run on the
controller node.
Then you should just create your network and subnet using the Quantum API.
Quantum ports will be created when VMs are booted.
