[openstack-dev] Interesting and representative performance workloads for OpenStack

I would like to start a discussion around performance workloads for
OpenStack. I plan to develop benchmarks to simulate such workloads and it
would be a good idea to list and prioritize some top number of them. Maybe
this is too broad of a question, but it would be good to have that feedback
too. Here is an an initial stab at it, listed in priority order (highest
first):

   1. VM boot with varying
      1. numbers of VMs
      2. compute nodes
      3. amount of compute workload per boot
      4. sizes (flavors)
      5. VMs per tenant (project)
      6. migrations
      2. Block devices with varying
      1. numbers
      2. sizes
      3. attachments to VMs
      4. snapshoting
   3. Network creations with varying
      1. numbers of subnets
      2. floating IP assignments
      3. networks per tenant (project)
      4. Images with varying
      1. number of images
      2. sizes
      3. formats
      4. time to boot to log in and to finish booting
